How to cheat at boxing: Skit 1 / Round 1: Draft 4: 1950s 1960s Paranoia

Skit one starts off with a news report with a title saying, “BREAKING NEWS, the fight of the decade the U.S. vs The Soviet Union Paranoia strikes the ring as both boxers don’t know what to expect”. (This title is represented as a news banner moving as footage from the Boxing match plays out).

The footage will show a boxing ring illuminated by spotlights whiles the audience is overshadowed by darkness. The boxers are two week-looking men who are sceptical and paranoid, the U.S. Boxer will be more paranoid of the Soviet. Therefore, he would be looking around more making sure nothing is happening around him without his knowledge. Meanwhile, the Soviet boxer will be trying to make the U.S. boxer more paranoid by smiling making sure he looks like he is on top of the fight. However, he will be just as sceptical and paranoid as the U.S. boxer sweating looking around, making sure the U.S. boxer has not done anything as well, but he will still try and look as if he is stronger and more dominant in the fight.

During the fight flashes from the news, report cameras will be going off around the boxing ring, with every flash both boxers will become more paranoid. Every time a camera flash goes of the U.S boxer will look around making sure that the Soviet boxer hasn’t done anything, looking back and forth between the camera flash and the Soviet boxer. Meanwhile, whenever the U.S boxer looks back at the Soviet boxer he will be smiling in order to make him more paranoid, but as the U.S boxer turns he will quickly look around himself. As they become more and more paranoid during the fight every flash of the camera will have a bigger effect on them. As one flash goes off the U.S. boxer will Drop to the ground not expecting it to happen, the Soviet boxer, on the other hand, will miss his punches as flashes go off. Through the boxing match, the camera flashes will get more and more intense and the Boxers will not be able to keep up, every now and again when the boxers miss a camera flash binoculars/periscope will come out from between the audience slightly illuminated by the camera flashes.

As the binoculars/periscopes start to come out the news footage will start to cut out and malfunction and the cameras will stop rolling as if someone has taken down the news footage in order to cover up something that is happening. (This will be the end of Skit one)
